ISLAMABAD; The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday directed the Ministry of Interior to make a decision within 30 days on an application filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Saifullah Abroo seeking the removal of his name from the Exit Control List (ECL).
Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar issued the directive during the hearing of Abroo’s petition. The senator’s counsel, Qamar Inayat Raja, informed the court that a formal request for removal from the ECL had already been submitted to the interior ministry.
CJ Dogar observed that the court would review the matter further once a decision is taken on the application by the relevant ministry. The court then adjourned the hearing, instructing the ministry to process and decide the matter within the stipulated timeframe.
Senator Abroo, who is facing multiple inquiries, had moved the court seeking relief from travel restrictions that, according to his legal team, were imposed without due justification.
