ISLAMABAD; President Asif Ali Zardari, during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong on Thursday, praised China’s longstanding role in Pakistan’s socio-economic progress and emphasized the immense potential for expanding cooperation in key sectors such as trade, economy, culture, and regional connectivity.
President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s deep commitment to its strategic partnership with China, calling it a cornerstone of the country’s foreign policy. He noted that Islamabad highly values its relationship with Beijing and remains eager to enhance collaboration in areas of mutual benefit.
Highlighting regional peace and development, the president stressed the importance of joint efforts between both countries to ensure stability, prosperity, and security across the region.
He acknowledged that China has consistently supported Pakistan during difficult times, earning the lasting gratitude of the Pakistani people. The president described China as an “iron brother,” a term frequently used to describe the two nations’ close bond. During the meeting, Ambassador Jiang conveyed a special birthday message on behalf of Chinese President Xi Jinping, extending warm wishes to President Zardari on his upcoming birthday, symbolizing the deep personal and diplomatic goodwill between the two nations.
