Mirpur: Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 8 runs in the second T20 International to secure an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
In the match held at Mirpur, Pakistan failed to chase down a modest target of 134 runs and were bowled out for 125 in the final over. Faheem Ashraf top-scored for the visitors with a fighting 51, while Abbas Afridi contributed 19 and Ahmed Daniyal 17. Other batters struggled to make an impact, with Khushdil Shah scoring 13, skipper Agha Salman 9, Fakhar Zaman 8, and Saim Ayub managing just 1. Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Nawaz, and Hasan Nawaz were all dismissed without scoring.
For Bangladesh, Sharif Islam was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets. Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed two wickets each, while Mustafizur Rahman and Rishad Hossain took one apiece.
Earlier, Bangladesh, after being invited to bat first, were bowled out for 133 runs. Zakir Ali was the standout performer with a 55-run knock, supported by Mehidy Hasan who made 33. The rest of the batting lineup faltered, with only a few reaching double digits.
On the bowling front, Salman Mirza, debutant Ahmed Daniyal, and Abbas Afridi each took two wickets for Pakistan. Mohammad Nawaz and Faheem Ashraf chipped in with one wicket apiece.
It is worth noting that Bangladesh had also won the first T20I convincingly by 7 wickets, sealing the series with one match to spare.
