Islamabad (Monitoring Desk) Pakistan crushed Sri Lanka 9-0 in their second group match, maintaining a perfect record in the tournament. Abdullah Awan opened the floodgates with a field goal in the fourth minute, swiftly followed by Zubair Latif. Asam Haider converted a penalty corner in the seventh minute, and Atif Ali’s goal in the 13th put Pakistan 4-0 up.
Haider struck twice more off penalty corners in the 17th and 24th minutes, extending the lead to 6-0 by halftime. Pakistan kept the pressure on in the third quarter, with Adeel scoring twice and Atif Ali completing his brace. Sri Lanka failed to create meaningful chances, and Pakistan easily closed out the game.
Asam Haider finished as top scorer with a hat-trick, while Atif Ali and Adeel bagged two goals each. This dominant win, along with their earlier 8-0 rout of Hong Kong, sees Pakistan leading Group A.
Earlier, despite visa delays that left them arriving in China just hours before their opener against Hong Kong, Pakistan produced a superb display. They scored once in the second quarter, twice in the third, and netted five more in a relentless final period.
Pakistan will next face Bangladesh on Tuesday, aiming to continue their flawless run.
