Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court (LHC), while hearing the smog eradication case, summoned the Terms of Reference (TORs) on crop residue management by July 11.
The court also directed the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) to submit a report on making key roads one-way at the next hearing. Additionally, Justice Karim ordered that no building be constructed in Lahore without adhering to green building standards and stressed that no project involving tree cutting should be approved.
The LDA was instructed to enforce these regulations on all under-construction buildings.Counsel for LDA presented report on including green building standard in new building by laws.
He told the court construction of building certificate from Pakistan Green Building Council will be must.
The state counsel took the plea Yellow line train project is under consideration. No practical work has been done.
DHA has given statement for cutting 1800 trees in connection with Yellow Line train.
The court while expressing displeasure over the statement of cutting trees said if DG PHA cuts trees then contempt of court notice will be issued to him. I am not against launching the project. Work out the project but trees be not cut. There are larger trees on Canal road . They should not be cut. Trees are must for environment. Be compassionate on this country and people of this country. You have children too.
Project Manager NESPAK assured the court no tree will be cut. The court remarked traffic jam on Services road is a serious issue.
