Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned recent Israeli statements advocating for the annexation of the West Bank, labeling such calls a blatant violation of international legitimacy resolutions. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated the Kingdom’s firm rejection of any attempts to expand settlements on Palestinian land.
In an official statement, the Ministry emphasized Saudi Arabia’s unwavering position and full support for the Palestinian people in their pursuit of legitimate rights, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. This includes the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Saudi statement underscored that this commitment is a firm and unshakeable principle for the Kingdom. It comes as a direct response to recent remarks by an Israeli official calling for the imposition of sovereignty over the occupied West Bank, a move that has drawn widespread international criticism.
Saudi Arabia has consistently maintained that a just and lasting peace in the Middle East hinges on the creation of a sovereign Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders. The Kingdom has also stressed the importance of holding Israeli authorities accountable to international resolutions and has previously linked any potential normalization of ties with Israel to the establishment of such a state and an end to the conflict in Gaza.
