Jeddah: Saudi Arabia and China have inaugurated a new direct air route connecting Jeddah and the Chinese city of Haikou, marking a significant step in strengthening travel and economic ties between the two countries.
According to foreign media, three weekly flights have been scheduled from Haikou to Jeddah, with expectations to expand services in the future.
The first flight was welcomed in a ceremony attended by Airports Company CEO Engineer Mazen Johar, Chinese Consul General Wang Qi, and senior aviation officials. The service is operated by Hainan Aviation, which ranks among the world’s top ten airlines on the Skytrax index.
This development comes as Saudi Arabia reports a 52 percent increase in Chinese tourist arrivals compared to last year. Overall, six carriers are currently operating a total of 29 weekly flights between Saudi Arabia and China as part of efforts to further organize and enhance air connectivity.
