LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly Wednesday approved five major demands for grants exceeding Rs636 billion for the fiscal year 2025-26. These grants cover crucial departments including Police, Agriculture, Education, Health Services, and Public Health. Despite resistance from the opposition, all eight cut motions presented were overwhelmingly rejected by the assembly.
The session, which began voting on 41 demands for grants under the annual budget, will continue for two days. On the first day, five key grants were passed, with the remaining set to be tabled in tomorrow’s session. The assembly was adjourned until 11 a.m. the next day after the completion of the scheduled agenda.
