ISLAMABAD (MNN); Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik announced on Thursday that the price of petrol has been increased to Rs458.4 per litre and high-speed diesel to Rs520.35 per litre. The announcement was made during a press conference held alongside Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.
At the beginning of the briefing, Ali Pervaiz Malik expressed gratitude to President Asif Ali Zardari, the chief ministers of all provinces, and the leadership of allied parties for their guidance during this “critical time.”
He explained that global energy prices have surged sharply due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, a situation that has impacted not only the region but the entire world.
The minister emphasized the importance of national discipline and unity, noting that the government’s “difficult and responsible” decision on energy pricing should be understood in the context of the challenging situation in the Middle East.
