NEWS DESK (MNN); Israel has launched attacks on key nuclear facilities and major steel plants in Iran, prompting strong warnings of retaliation from Tehran.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the country would impose a “heavy price” on Israel for targeting critical infrastructure, including nuclear and industrial sites.
The strikes reportedly hit facilities such as the Khondab heavy water plant and Ardakan yellowcake production site, along with major steel plants. The attacks came despite Donald Trump’s earlier indication of delaying strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure amid ongoing diplomatic efforts.
Iran’s Atomic Energy Organisation confirmed that a projectile landed near the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, though no casualties or damage were reported. Tehran termed the targeting of nuclear sites a serious violation of international law and a threat to regional safety.
Meanwhile, damage was also reported in Tel Aviv after debris from Iranian projectiles fell in multiple locations, affecting buildings and infrastructure.
On the diplomatic front, Ishaq Dar confirmed that Pakistan is facilitating communication between US and Iranian officials, with support from Türkiye and Egypt to de-escalate tensions.
In a further escalation warning, Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree said Yemen could directly intervene militarily if the conflict widens. He outlined conditions including involvement of additional countries, use of the Red Sea for attacks, or continued escalation against Iran and its allies.
Separately, officials in Iran’s Isfahan province reported that recent strikes killed 25 workers and damaged power plants and industrial facilities, including a major steel complex.
A senior Iranian official also termed US strikes during ongoing diplomatic talks as “intolerable,” adding that Tehran has yet to decide on its response to US proposals amid continued attacks.
