SPORTS DESK (MNN); The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has made history by witnessing the highest number of centuries in a single edition of the tournament.
The event, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8, has already seen four centuries — a record for any T20 World Cup edition.
Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka scored a century against Australia, while Canada’s Yuvraj Samra hit a hundred against New Zealand. Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan added to the tally with a century against Namibia, marking three centuries in one edition.
The record was extended during the Super Eight stage when England captain Harry Brook scored a century against Pakistan, bringing the total to four.
Previously, no T20 World Cup had more than two centuries in a single edition. The inaugural 2007 tournament saw only one century, while no centuries were recorded in 2009. Two centuries were scored in 2010, one in 2012, two each in 2014 and 2016, one in 2021, two in 2022, and none in 2024.
This year’s tournament has surpassed all previous records, reflecting a trend toward higher-scoring contests in modern T20 cricket.
