KOHLU (MNN); Security forces killed five terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Kohlu district, the military’s media wing said on Friday.
According to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was carried out on December 25 following reports of the presence of terrorists affiliated with Fitna-al-Hindustan, a term used by the state for India-backed militant networks operating in Balochistan.
The ISPR said security forces effectively engaged the terrorists’ hideout, and after a fierce exchange of fire, five Indian-sponsored militants were killed. During the operation, weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the terrorists, who were involved in multiple acts of terrorism in the area.
The statement added that sanitisation operations are continuing to eliminate any remaining militants in the region. It said Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue their comprehensive counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam”, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for the successful operation, stating that the government would foil the nefarious designs of terrorists who are enemies of humanity. He added that the entire nation stands firmly with the armed forces in the fight against terrorism.
The prime minister reaffirmed the government’s resolve to completely eliminate all forms of terrorism from Pakistan.
Earlier this month, security forces killed 12 terrorists in a similar intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Kalat district. In October, the Centre for Research and Security Studies reported a surge in violence during the third quarter of 2025 due to an increase in militant attacks and intensified counter-terrorism operations.
