Web Desk; Actress Saiyami Kher has expressed her excitement and anticipation for the long-awaited release of Chakda ’Xpress, the biopic based on legendary Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami, starring Anushka Sharma in the lead role.
In a recent interview, Saiyami said she feels proud to see a powerful story about women’s cricket finally coming to the big screen, calling it “a milestone moment for Indian sports cinema.”
The film, directed by Prosit Roy and produced by Anushka’s Clean Slate Filmz, has faced several delays since wrapping up production in 2022.
Reports suggest the makers are now in advanced talks with Netflix to finalise a digital release, as public interest in women’s cricket continues to rise.
Saiyami, who herself is known for her sports-driven performances, said she deeply admires Anushka Sharma’s dedication to portraying Jhulan Goswami’s journey with authenticity.
“As someone who loves sports, I know how challenging it is to capture the physical and emotional struggles of an athlete. Anushka has done complete justice to the role,” she remarked.
Industry insiders believe that Chakda ’Xpress could not only reignite interest in women’s cricket but also set a new benchmark for female-led sports dramas in India.
