ISLAMABAD (MNN); The federal government has removed Chaudhry Mohammad Ali Randhawa from his roles as Chief Commissioner Islamabad and Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), appointing Lieutenant (Retired) Sohail Ashraf as his replacement.
According to a notification issued by the Establishment Division, Sohail Ashraf, a Grade-20 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service, has been transferred and posted as the new Chief Commissioner of Islamabad. Prior to this appointment, he was serving as Secretary Communications and Works in the Punjab government.
Throughout his career, Ashraf has held several important administrative positions, including Deputy Commissioner Faisalabad and Deputy Commissioner Mandi Bahauddin. He has also served as Director General PDMA and Director General Industries, reflecting extensive administrative experience in Punjab.
Officials stated that the Cabinet Division issued the formal notification after receiving approval from the federal government. He is also expected to be given additional charge as Chairman CDA, a role traditionally held by the Chief Commissioner in Islamabad.
