Web Desk (MNN); Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that the ongoing war against Iran is aimed at eliminating its nuclear and ballistic missile threats before they become immune to aerial strikes.
Speaking at a televised press conference, Netanyahu said the joint military campaign by Israel and the United States is focused on dismantling Iran’s missile production infrastructure.
“We are destroying factories that produce missile components and targeting their industrial base in ways not done before,” he said, claiming that Iran’s command and control systems are now in “utter chaos.”
He added that the broader objective of the war is to create conditions that would allow the Iranian people to determine their own future.
Netanyahu also revealed that Israel is assisting US-led efforts to ensure the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy route, while downplaying concerns about fluctuating oil prices.
Commenting on Iran’s internal situation, the Israeli premier claimed that divisions are emerging within the country’s leadership. He pointed out that Iran’s new leadership figures, including Mojtaba Khamenei, have not made public appearances, suggesting uncertainty at the top.
“I’m not sure who is running Iran right now,” Netanyahu said, adding that Israel is observing “cracks” both within the leadership and on the ground, and is attempting to exploit these divisions.
In another significant revelation, Netanyahu said Israel had independently carried out strikes on the South Pars gas field, specifically targeting the Asaluyeh gas complex. However, he noted that US President Donald Trump had requested a pause on further such attacks, which Israel is currently observing.
Despite the escalating conflict, Netanyahu expressed confidence that the war could conclude sooner than expected.
He also warned that any attempt by Iran to shut down the Strait of Hormuz would ultimately fail.
Addressing speculation about internal unrest in Iran, Netanyahu said it remains uncertain whether the Iranian public will rise against the government, noting that revolutions cannot be achieved through air power alone and require a ground component.
Meanwhile, he rejected claims that Israel had pressured the United States into joining the war, dismissing such reports as “fake news.”
“Does anyone really think someone can dictate terms to President Trump?” he remarked.
Netanyahu further claimed that after nearly 20 days of sustained airstrikes by Israel and the US, Iran no longer retains the capability to enrich uranium or produce ballistic missiles — a claim yet to be independently verified.
