ISLAMABAD (MNN); Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar held a meeting with the newly elected leadership of the National Press Club Islamabad, including its president Abdul Razzaq Sial and secretary Dr. Furqan Rao. The delegation was led by senior journalist Haji Nawaz Raza.
During the meeting, the information minister congratulated office bearers of both groups that participated in the club’s elections, including the Democrats and the Journalist Panel. He also extended his best wishes to the members of the newly elected executive body.
Discussions were held on a range of matters concerning the journalist community as well as other key issues. The minister emphasized that the National Press Club serves as a strong voice for journalists and plays an important role in addressing the issues faced by the media fraternity while promoting professional values in journalism.
Attaullah Tarar said the government would continue to extend full cooperation for the welfare of journalists and for resolving issues faced by the media sector. He reiterated that the Ministry of Information would keep playing its role in addressing the concerns of the journalist community.
The meeting also included detailed discussions on the housing quota for journalists, the grant allocated to the National Press Club under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), and health insurance facilities for media professionals. The minister issued necessary instructions to the federal secretary for information regarding the grant for the National Press Club building under the PSDP.
Members of the delegation invited the federal minister to attend the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected office bearers of the National Press Club, which will be held after Eid al-Fitr. The minister accepted the invitation.
Prime Minister’s Media Coordinator Badr Shahbaz Warraich, Federal Secretary Information Ashfaq Ahmad Khalil, and Principal Information Officer Mubashir Hassan were also present during the meeting.
