ISLAMABAD: The Malaysian High Commissioner to Pakistan, His Excellency Ambassador Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, participated in the inaugural meeting of ASEAN Heads of Mission (HOMs) under Indonesia’s chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Islamabad (ACI) on March 4, 2026.
The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Chandra Warsenanto Sukotjo, Ambassador of Indonesia to Pakistan, who currently holds the ACI chairmanship for the first half of 2026.During the meeting, the participating envoys discussed the proposed programme for the year and explored strategies aimed at enhancing ASEAN’s presence and visibility in Pakistan. The discussions focused on strengthening engagement through diplomatic, cultural, and economic initiatives to highlight ASEAN as a united and dynamic regional bloc in the country.
The diplomats also underscored the importance of closer collaboration among ASEAN missions in Islamabad to promote regional cooperation and deepen ties with Pakistan across multiple sectors.Following the meeting, the Heads of Mission attended an Iftar dinner, providing an informal setting for further discussions on regional cooperation while strengthening personal and professional relations among ASEAN representatives.
Malaysia reaffirmed its commitment to supporting ASEAN’s collective efforts in Pakistan and expressed continued support for Indonesia’s leadership during its tenure as chair of the ASEAN Committee in Islamabad.
