ISLAMABAD (MNN); Geo News, one of Pakistan’s leading news networks, faced a temporary interruption in its satellite transmission after unidentified individuals allegedly accessed its broadcast frequency and aired unauthorized content.
Viewers in several regions reported that the channel suddenly went off air on satellite screens, showing a notice that the service was unavailable. Shortly afterward, the broadcast feed displayed an image containing Urdu text over a background featuring an explosion and the Pakistani flag, suggesting a possible security breach in the transmission system.
Initial reports indicate that the disruption was limited to the satellite feed. The channel continued normal operations across its digital platforms and other distribution networks.
Technical experts believe the incident may have involved signal interference or a frequency override — methods commonly associated with satellite signal hijacking. Media technology specialists explain that such breaches can occur through uplink interference or frequency spoofing, enabling unauthorized signals to temporarily override legitimate broadcasts if security safeguards are circumvented.
As of the time of reporting, neither Geo News management nor the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority had issued an official statement regarding the incident.
