ISLAMABAD (MNN); Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari met at Aiwan-i-Sadr on Thursday to review the country’s political, economic and security situation, along with the prevailing regional and global environment.
According to a press release issued by the President’s Secretariat, the meeting focused on key national matters and broader international developments.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar were among the senior officials who attended the meeting.
State broadcaster PTV reported that Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and federal ministers Syed Mushtaq Raza Naqvi, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Khalid Hussain Magsi and Abdul Aleem Khan were also present.
The prime minister and president last held a meeting in November, during which they discussed the country’s security challenges following a series of terrorist attacks. At that time, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to continue operations against foreign-backed militants and their facilitators until terrorism is completely eradicated.
