ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Friday that he could now say “without hesitation” that Pakistan’s economy had achieved “stability”.
He made the remarks while speaking to leading exporters and prominent figures from the business community. During his address, the prime minister praised the participants for their “hard work and efficiency” and reiterated, “I can say without any hesitation that Pakistan has become a stable economy.”
PM Shehbaz highlighted that, as a result of government measures, inflation had fallen to “single digits” and the policy rate stood at 10.5 per cent. He contrasted this with an earlier period when “the policy rate used to be 21.5–22pc, and inflation was galloping,” noting that at the time, people were uncertain about what lay ahead.
Recalling the challenges faced, he said the country went through severe hardships, which industrialists and business leaders confronted directly. “There was hope that maybe there would come a better time, and Pakistan would be on its way to progress,” he added.
