ISLAMABAD (MNN); Central leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), Zahid Malik, on Sunday expressed deep sorrow and grief over the tragic loss of lives caused by a cylinder explosion in Islamabad’s G-7 sector.
In a statement, Zahid Malik said the deaths of the bride and groom in the incident were extremely heartbreaking. He lamented that the loss of eight precious lives had cast a pall of mourning over the federal capital.
He also expressed serious concern over what he termed the poor planning and ineffective strategy of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), stressing that negligence and lack of proper safety measures were costing innocent lives.
Zahid Malik said MQM-P stands in solidarity with the bereaved families and extends heartfelt condolences to them in this difficult time. He emphasised that there was an urgent need to formulate and implement a comprehensive strategy to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
Commenting on the overall situation of the country, the MQM-P leader said Pakistan was currently facing severe political, economic and administrative crises. He stated that rampant inflation, unemployment, misgovernance and the unjust distribution of powers had made the lives of ordinary citizens extremely difficult.
He added that the ruling classes remained preoccupied with power struggles, while public issues continued to be ignored.
Zahid Malik demanded that local government institutions be granted complete financial and administrative autonomy to ensure effective resolution of public problems. He further called for an end to injustices carried out in the name of urban-rural division.
He stressed that all provinces and regions must be provided equal opportunities for development and prosperity. He concluded by saying that the culture of making decisions behind closed doors must come to an end for the country to move forward.
