LAHORE (MNN); The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to hold an auction for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans, sources said on Sunday.
Earlier, the PCB had announced that it would manage Multan Sultans on its own during PSL 11. However, in a fresh development, the board has now opted to put the franchise up for sale.
Sources said the decision was taken after the successful auction of two new PSL teams, which fetched prices higher than the PCB’s expectations. Encouraged by the strong market response, the board believes this is the right time to auction Multan Sultans as well.
According to insiders, the franchise will be offered through an open bidding process, and an advertisement inviting bids is expected to be issued soon. A formal announcement will be made after completing a review of legal and regulatory matters.
Following the record sale of the two new franchises and increased interest from foreign investors, several potential buyers have reportedly shown interest in acquiring Multan Sultans. The PCB is confident that the franchise will attract a strong price in the auction.
