DUBAI (MNN); Pakistan’s Olympic javelin champion Arshad Nadeem was honoured with the Global Breakthrough Athlete Award at the World Sports Summit held in Dubai on Monday.
The two-day summit, running from December 29 to 30, has brought together more than 1,500 athletes, sports administrators and policymakers from around the world to discuss the future of global sports under the theme “Uniting the World Through Sport,” according to the Emirates News Agency.
Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar and other officials congratulated Nadeem on the achievement. “Arshad Nadeem is our pride,” Tarar wrote in a message on social media platform X.
Arshad Nadeem created history in August 2024 by winning Pakistan’s first-ever Olympic gold medal in javelin at the Paris Olympics, delivering a record-breaking throw of 92.97 metres. His achievement marked a major milestone for Pakistani athletics on the global stage.
In addition to his Olympic success, Nadeem has also won medals at the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games, further cementing his status as one of Pakistan’s most successful athletes.
More recently, in November 2025, he added another gold medal to his tally by claiming the top spot in javelin at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with a throw of 83.05 metres.
