Web Desk (MNN); Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Saturday that the United States, Israel, and Europe are waging a “full-fledged war” against Iran.
“In my view, we are in a full-scale war with America, Israel, and Europe. They do not want our country to stand on its own feet,” Pezeshkian told the official site of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The remarks come ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s meeting with US President Donald Trump on Monday and six months after Israel and the US conducted strikes on Iran. France, Germany, and the United Kingdom also reimposed United Nations sanctions on Iran in September over its nuclear programme.
“Our military forces are performing strongly, and despite existing challenges, they are better equipped and stronger than when [Israel and the US] previously attacked,” Pezeshkian said. “If they attempt another attack, they will face a far more decisive response.”
The president stressed that this conflict is more complex than previous wars. “This war is worse than Iraq’s war against us. It is far more complicated and difficult than that war,” he said, referring to the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq conflict that caused thousands of casualties.
The US and its allies have repeatedly accused Iran of pursuing nuclear weapons, claims Tehran denies. Israel and Iran engaged in a 12-day confrontation in June following Israeli strikes on Iranian military, nuclear, and civilian sites, causing over 1,000 casualties according to Iranian authorities. The US later joined the operation, bombing three Iranian nuclear sites and halting nuclear negotiations that began in April.
Since returning to the White House, US President Donald Trump has resumed his “maximum pressure” policy, imposing sanctions aimed at crippling Iran’s economy and restricting oil revenues. Reports indicate that Netanyahu’s upcoming meeting with Trump at Mar-a-Lago will push for further military action against Iran, particularly targeting its missile programme.
