NEW YORK (MNN); Pakistan Super League’s 11th edition is expected to be staged from March 26 to May 3, 2026, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced on Saturday. He also revealed that the auction for two proposed new franchises would be held on January 8.
The announcements were made during a PCB investor roadshow in New York, organised as part of an overseas promotional drive aimed at generating commercial interest ahead of the league’s possible expansion from six to eight teams. While the PCB has previously signalled its intent to expand the PSL, the inclusion of new franchises has not yet received formal approval.
Addressing investors and stakeholders, Mohsin Naqvi said the PCB had taken administrative control of the Muzaffarabad Cricket Stadium and planned to initiate renovation work. He said efforts were under way to make the venue operational before the PSL, though he conceded that completion ahead of the tournament could not be guaranteed.
“We have taken over Muzaffarabad Stadium and our target is to prepare it before the PSL. If that is not possible, the work will still be initiated within this year,” he said.
The PCB chairman also announced an extension in the deadline for submitting bids for the new franchises until December 22, citing strong interest from potential investors.
On Sunday, the PSL trophy was showcased at Times Square, attracting members of Pakistan’s cricket-loving diaspora, who gathered for photographs and brief interactions with players and officials. The PCB said the event was aimed at enhancing the league’s visibility among overseas audiences.
Several prominent figures attended the event, including current Pakistan batter Shan Masood, former captains Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja, and members of the national squad. Singer Ali Zafar, who has previously performed PSL anthems, was also present. No matches or cricketing activities were scheduled during the programme.
The New York roadshow followed a similar promotional event held at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London earlier this year. According to the PCB, these initiatives are part of a broader strategy to increase the PSL’s commercial value and global reach.
Launched in 2016, the PSL has developed into Pakistan’s premier T20 competition. Although the league initially took place entirely outside Pakistan, matches gradually returned to home venues. Despite its success, the PSL has faced scheduling pressures due to a congested international calendar and competition from other global T20 leagues.
The PCB has yet to announce detailed information regarding venues, player drafts or final confirmation of new teams for the 2026 season.
