Web Desk (MNN); Pakistan is set to roll out its final nationwide anti-polio vaccination campaign for 2025 on Monday, with the seven-day drive continuing until December 21, according to the National Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).
The campaign aims to administer polio drops to more than 45 million children across the country. Punjab has the highest target, with over 23 million children set to be vaccinated, followed by Sindh where more than 10.6 million children will receive polio drops.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the vaccination drive will cover over 7.2 million children, while more than 2.6 million children are targeted in Balochistan. In Islamabad, over 460,000 children are expected to be vaccinated. The campaign also aims to reach more than 228,000 children in Gilgit-Baltistan and over 760,000 children in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The National EOC said that more than 400,000 male and female polio workers will participate in the campaign nationwide. Emphasising collective responsibility, the centre stated that protecting children from polio is a shared national obligation and urged parents to ensure full cooperation with vaccination teams.
Officials said the renewed effort comes after concerns were raised regarding the previous nationwide campaign conducted in October. According to sources, the earlier drive, held from October 13 to 19 and targeting more than 45 million children, failed to achieve its desired coverage.
Authorities expressed hope that improved coordination and public cooperation would help meet vaccination targets during the final drive of the year.
