KARACHI (MNN); Pakistan’s Olympic star Arshad Nadeem continued to shine as he won the gold medal in the javelin throw at the National Games, achieving a remarkable throw of 81.81 metres.
WAPDA’s Yasir Sultan secured the silver medal with a throw of 70.77 metres, while Pakistan Army’s Abrar Ali earned the bronze with a throw of 67.68 metres.
Nadeem had also thrilled the crowd during the opening ceremony with a special exhibition throw in front of chief guest Bilawal Bhutto, receiving a roaring applause.
The National Games returned to Karachi after 18 years, drawing thousands of athletes and spectators despite dusty conditions and traffic disruptions. Around 2,500 participants marched into the National Stadium during the colorful opening ceremony, which featured vibrant cultural performances.
Addressing the event, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari expressed hope that the athletes would make Pakistan proud on the international stage, noting that such competitions provide young people with a positive and healthy platform.
