ISLAMABAD: Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto received a red-carpet reception in Islamabad on Monday as he arrived for a two-day official visit from December 8 to 9.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed him at Nur Khan Airbase. President Subianto, accompanied by senior ministers and officials, is set to engage in extensive discussions aimed at strengthening Pakistan-Indonesia relations.
According to the Foreign Office, during his visit President Subianto will hold delegation-level talks with PM Shehbaz, and also meet President Zardari and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir. The discussions will explore enhanced cooperation in sectors such as trade, investment, defence, health, information technology, climate, education, and culture.
The statement noted that “The two sides will discuss a wide-ranging agenda aimed at further strengthening Pakistan-Indonesia relations and exploring new avenues of cooperation, including trade, investment, defence, health, IT, climate, education, and culture, as well as enhancing collaboration at regional and global levels.”
It added that several Memoranda of Understanding are expected to be signed during the visit.
The Foreign Office emphasized that Pakistan and Indonesia have long-standing, friendly ties built on shared values and mutual interests. It said the visit by President Prabowo will serve as an important opportunity to deepen bilateral cooperation and expand the partnership between the two nations.
