ISLAMABAD (MNN); An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad on Wednesday declared Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Omar Ayub and Zartaj Gul as proclaimed offenders in the Sangjani Jalsa case.
ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Supra passed the order after both leaders repeatedly failed to appear despite multiple court summons. The court also directed that their properties be seized in accordance with legal procedures.
Meanwhile, the court accepted pleas for exemption from personal appearance filed by PTI leaders Zain Qureshi, Ali Bukhari, Sher Afzal Marwat, and Shoaib Shaheen after reviewing the justifications provided by their counsel.
The hearing was later adjourned until December 20.
The case stems from an FIR lodged at Sangjani Police Station against several PTI leaders and workers regarding a political gathering allegedly involving legal violations. The court’s ruling marks another notable development in the series of legal issues confronting PTI leadership following recent political tension.
