ISLAMABAD (MNN); Pakistan has increased LPG prices for December, with the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) attributing the hike to higher production costs linked to Saudi Aramco’s pricing and fluctuations in the US dollar exchange rate.
The price of an 11.8 kg domestic cylinder has gone up by Rs87.21, setting the new rate at Rs2,466.10. Meanwhile, the per-kilogram price has risen by Rs7.49, reaching Rs208.95.
Ogra stated that the adjustment is based on a 4.93 percent rise in Saudi Aramco’s Official Selling Price (OSP) during the past month. In contrast, the average US dollar exchange rate dipped slightly by 0.15 percent over the same period.
For December, Saudi Aramco increased its OSP for propane by $20 per metric ton to $495 per ton, and for butane by $25 to $485 per ton. Propane and butane are both components of LPG but differ in their boiling points.
Aramco’s OSP figures serve as a benchmark for LPG supply contracts from the Middle East to Asia-Pacific markets.
Ogra has issued the formal notification for December, implementing the revised LPG prices nationwide as the winter season drives greater household demand.
