FAISALABAD (MNN); Government College University Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam is on an official visit to China, where he is attending the 5th Belt and Road China–Pakistan Agriculture Forum on the invitation of Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU), Wuhan.
The opening ceremony was addressed by HZAU President Prof. Yan Jianbing, who stressed the need for stronger academic cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, H.E. Khalil Hashmi, praised the enduring Pakistan–China partnership and acknowledged HZAU’s efforts to promote collaborative research.
Speaking at the forum, Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam reaffirmed GCUF’s focus on international academic engagement. He invited Chinese students and researchers to work with GCUF in Faisalabad and encouraged GCUF students and faculty to participate in research and training programmes in Wuhan and other leading Chinese universities.
During his visit, the Vice Chancellor signed a landmark MoU with Lushan Botanical Garden, operated by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The collaboration aims to establish Pakistan’s first botanical garden dedicated to environmental education and scientific tourism.
Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam also entered into a major MoU with Huazhong Agricultural University to strengthen cooperation in agricultural and biological sciences. The agreement includes joint research projects, academic exchange programmes, shared supervision mechanisms, and collaborative international funding applications.
