ISLAMABAD (MNN); Denmark’s newly appointed ambassador to Pakistan, Maja Derrous Mortensen, hosted her first official engagement in Islamabad — an evening of music and cultural exchange at her residence.
The event featured the Denmark-Pakistan Musical Exchange Tour and brought together representatives from the government, development sector, private businesses, cultural circles, and the diplomatic community.

Held just three days after the ambassador presented her credentials to the President of Pakistan, the reception offered an opportunity for her to meet a broad cross-section of Denmark’s partners in a single setting.
Guests were treated to live collaborative performances by Danish musicians, young artists from the Leif Larsen Music Center in Hunza, and Lahore’s qawwali group Sawaal. The fusion of styles highlighted the creative potential of Denmark–Pakistan cultural cooperation and reflected the longstanding ties between the two nations.
While Denmark continues to prioritise climate action, green transition, sustainable infrastructure, and stronger bilateral trade, the Musical Exchange Tour is seen as an effort to further deepen the 75-year bond between Danish and Pakistani people.
The Embassy of Denmark thanked all participants for joining the evening gathering at the ambassador’s residence, describing the event as a positive start to Ambassador Mortensen’s diplomatic tenure in Pakistan.
