ISLAMABAD (MNN); Passengers travelling abroad will now benefit from quicker processing at major airports, as self-service boarding card machines have been installed at Lahore, Islamabad, and Karachi.
The new system aims to streamline both boarding and immigration procedures, significantly reducing queues and wait times.
According to airport officials, travellers can automatically obtain their boarding passes as soon as they enter the terminal.
Immigration clearance will be carried out through an advanced profiling data application linked with the IBM Integrated Border Management System. Passengers must fill in their profile details, including the purpose of travel and other personal information, before arriving at the airport.
All airlines operating at these airports have been integrated into this digital system. Access to airport lounges will only be granted after passengers complete their data entry.
Immigration staff will process clearances within minutes by verifying documents and security responses through the app.
Officials say the system will help curb the use of fake documents or fraudulent visas.
Airport authorities added that the upgraded mechanism will not only speed up boarding but also strengthen overall security.
The integration of all airlines and the digital profiling process marks a major step towards modernising passenger handling at Pakistan’s international airports.
