Web Desk (MNN); Chief of General Staff (CGS) Lieutenant General Aamer Raza met his Saudi counterpart, General Fayyadh Bin Hameed Al-Rowaily, in Riyadh on Friday to discuss enhancing strategic ties and strengthening the mutual defence agreement between the two nations, according to the military’s media wing.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have long maintained multifaceted relations grounded in military cooperation, economic interests, and shared Islamic heritage. Riyadh has historically been a key source of financial aid and energy supplies for Islamabad.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the meeting focused on matters of mutual strategic interest, including strengthening bilateral defence cooperation, improving interoperability, and advancing collaboration under the mutual defence agreement.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening long-standing fraternal ties and contributing to regional peace, stability, and self-reliance.
A special session of the Pakistan-Saudi Bilateral Defence Industrial Forum was also held in Riyadh, led by Lt Gen Raza for Pakistan and Khalid Al Biyari, Saudi Assistant Minister of Defence for Executive Affairs, for Saudi Arabia. The forum reviewed ongoing defence projects and explored new joint ventures in emerging technologies aligned with Saudi Vision 2030.
Lt Gen Raza reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for capacity building of the Royal Saudi Defence Forces. The Saudi leadership appreciated Pakistan’s efforts, achievements, and sacrifices in counter-terrorism operations and its contribution to regional peace and stability.
In September, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman signed the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement in Riyadh, pledging that any attack on one country would be treated as an attack on both, strengthening joint deterrence and regional security.
